The Uganda–Kenya Coast Tourism & Innovation Summit has grown from a regional networking event into one of East Africa’s most influential tourism business platforms. Each edition has strengthened collaboration between Uganda and Kenya’s coastal tourism sector while creating new opportunities for tour operators, hotels, tourism boards, airlines, investors, media organisations and technology providers to build meaningful partnerships and expand their regional presence.

Every conference builds on the achievements and lessons learned from previous editions, expanding participation, encouraging innovation, improving business outcomes and supporting sustainable tourism development throughout the region. This comprehensive archive celebrates the journey of the summit while showcasing the partnerships, ideas, innovations and business achievements that continue to shape East African tourism.

The evolution of the summit reflects broader changes in East African tourism, from growing international recognition of Uganda’s wildlife attractions to Kenya’s position as a regional aviation hub, the rise of digital marketing and booking platforms, increased focus on sustainable and community-based tourism, and the development of cross-border tourism products that showcase the diversity of experiences available across multiple countries.

The conference journey: from concept to influence

Since its inception, the summit has focused on creating stronger tourism partnerships between Uganda and Kenya while promoting East Africa as a seamless multi-destination tourism region that rivals established destinations in other continents. Over the years, the conference has evolved from informal networking gatherings into a comprehensive business platform featuring structured matchmaking, professional exhibitions, investment forums, destination marketing workshops, media engagement programmes, technology showcases, sustainable tourism initiatives and policy dialogue sessions.

Key developments in the summit’s evolution include the introduction of the Connect business matchmaking platform, which transformed random networking into strategic partnership development; the expansion of exhibition space and professional presentation opportunities for suppliers; the addition of investment forums and project showcases that attract development capital to the region; the integration of media and content creation programmes that amplify destination marketing; the emphasis on sustainable tourism practices and community benefit models; and the establishment of year-round relationship management through digital platforms that maintain engagement between annual gatherings.
